State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. vice president-claims, Richard E. Aaberg was elected chairman of the Insurance Committee for Arson Control (ICAC). Aaberg directs the anti-arson efforts of State Farm and has been a member of the ICAC since 1978. Also, Charles F. Stonehill was reelected secretary.

Borgelt Named Chairman

Larry D. Borgelt, associate professor of Oklahoma State University, has been named chairman of Fire Protection and Safety, OSU School of Technology.

Prior to joining the OSU faculty in 1974, he taught fire science courses and served as firefighter crew chief and fire prevention inspector for the U.S. Army in Ft. Richardson, Ala.

McElfish Named Chief

Jack K. McElfish has been appointed chief of the Wallingford, Conn. Fire Department. The department includes 64 career personnel and 140 volunteers.

Previously, he was fire training coordinator for Montgomery County, Pa. and prior to that was a career officer in Montgomery County, Md.

Olsen Named Director

Michael F. Olsen is the new managing director of the Foundation for Fire Safety. Formerly manager of EMS for the USFA, Olsen and Gordon Vickery, also formerly of the USFA, have set up the private, nonprofit foundation to “improve human fire safety.”

The Foundation plans to focus on the range of fire safety issues emphasizing the protection of people from fire. Olsen has been involved with the fire service and EMS for 15 years, in advisory and administrative positions.

Brice Named President

Chief Herman Brice of the City of Miami was named president of the Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association at their 24th conference. Brice has been with the MFD for 28 years and is a member of the Fla. EMS Advisory Committee.
