More Than Three Dozen Displaced in GA Townhouse Complex Fire

According to a report from 11Alive, 37 people are homeless after an “accidental” fire tore through a Peachtree Corners townhouse complex. No injuries were reported, according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services (GCFES) officials.

GCFES received the call at around 11:36 a.m. for the complex located at 6520 Hillandale Drive in Norcross, Georgia.

GCFES officials also said the complex’s leasing office received a call from plumbers who were working in an apartment regarding the fire. The leasing office then contacted 911.

On arrival, GCFES crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the center of the building.

Crews then conducted a search for victims, and rescued a dog that was later reunited with its owner.

It took GCFES crews one hour to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters called the fire “accidental,” and believed it ignited because of work being done by the plumbers.
