According to a report from ABC7, 13 residents of a Bronx, New York, apartment complex were hospitalized Wednesday morning after a carbon monoxide (CO) leak set off alarms inside the building.
Fire Department of New York officials said CO alarms began going off at around 6:45 a.m. at Twin Park South East at Mapes Avenue and 180th Street in East Tremont. All reported injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
The Department of Buildings (DoB) was on scene and residents were eventually permitted to return to their apartments after remaining outside for several hours.
Inspectors from the DOB’s Boiler Unit were sent to the scene. However, no cause was immediately given for the CO leak.
The FDNY and Department of Buildings said the incident remains under investigation.
