Molly Skypes with Children from Denmark!

Hi, boys and girls!

Welcome to Molly’s Kids Zone on Firelife.com!

My name is Molly, and I am a real fire dog. I love teaching fire safety to children.

One of the things I like about being a fire dog and mascot is being able to travel the United States sharing fire safety with boys and girls just like you!

Skyping with Children from Denmark!

Earlier this year, we ran into our good friend, Firefighter Frank Mikkelsen, from the Greater Copenhagen Fire Department in Copenhagen, Denmark, at an event in Washington, DC. We shared information about our exciting fire safety Skype program, now in its 6th year!

Two months later, we got up super early, and at 4 a.m. our time, Boden, Firefighter Dayna, and I Skyped our fire safety program with more than 200 children attending the “Spark ‘n’ Flame” Day sponsored by Firefighter Frank’s fire department.

When we Skyped with the children, we were almost 8,000 miles away! That’s alot of miles, isn’t it?

I was super excited that Denmark was my 26th country to Skype my fire safety program with!

Check out this pawsome video we made. Enjoy!

Want to see a video of what the event was like for the children in Denmark? You can see what the fire trucks look like there and what the firefighters wear. So cool!

Do you have an event like this at your school?

Special thanks to Firefighter Frank Mikkelsen, the Greater Copenhagen Fire Department, our corporate partner State Farm, and Skype for helping make this incredible experience possible!

FIRE SAFETY TIP

Crawl low if you see or smell smoke!

If you see or smell smoke, be sure to crawl low under smoke on your hands and knees where the air is cleaner and cooler.

Practice with your friends and family so everyone will know what to do in case of fire!

I want you and your family to stay safe!
