With six venomous snake species in Florida, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue has the largest and only antivenom bank for the public in the United States.
Better known as Venom 1, the department provides antivenom to hospitals in the tri-county area around Miami-Dade County and also ships antivenom to hospitals further away.
The Venom Response Team is also dispatched to Africanized bee calls, as well as large and small emergency and nuisance calls.
