80 Fire and Safety Signs—National Marker’s 12-page, full-color catalog features its line of fire and safety signs for every marking purpose. Additional signs include fire extinguisher and hydrant location markers, pictorial See Signs, pressure-sensitive labels, and complete danger, caution, safety first and radiation series. The signs are available on self-adhesive vinyl, metal and glow-in-the dark materials.

81 Suspended Maneuvering System— McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Company has published a 24-page, four-color brochure describing the Suspended Maneuvering System which is a platform designed to deploy and recover men and equipment quickly from locations which are difficult or impossible to reach. The unit is a self-contained module transported to and from the scene where needed by helicopter. Suspended by a long cable, the SMS can maneuver independently of the helicopter horizontally in any direction by means of an advanced thrust and attitude control system, controlled by an on-board operator independent of the helicopter’s operation. The brochure illustrates the various applications of the module.

82 Emergency Lighting—Dual-Lite, Inc., Emergency Lighting Division, has published a four-page, color brochure on the DeLite Series CPL, self-contained emergency lighting cylinders. The mini system, so called because it offers the capability to power remote fixtures such as exits, matching cylinders and lighting heads, represents an attractive answer to meeting emergency lighting requirements.

83 Alarm Systems—Mountain West has announced publication of its 72-page 1980 security and alarm systems catalog (A-80). With 16 pages of full-color illustrations, it offers over 1200 of the latest products. Information on system design, alarm application and installation procedures is included with connection diagrams. Products are described as to use, principle of operation and specifications. Where needed, connection diagrams and pictures allow qualified technicians to design systems with correct choices.

84 Emergency Medical Supplies— Rockford Safety Equipment Company has issued a 196-page catalog describing its emergency care products. The catalog, EMP-79, is entitled “Emergency Care Products and Rescue Extrication Equipment” and illustrates thousands of products from bandages to electronic pulsemeters and cardiopulmonary resuscitation valves. All items in the catalog are in stock ready for immediate off-the-shelf shipment.

Shown are complete lines of hose, extinguisher and special-use cabinets; fire hose and extinguishers; racks, reels, nozzles and valves; fire department connections, all with specification data.

87 Carbon Monoxide Monitor—A new data sheet describing the Ecolyzer Hipster wearable personal monitor/alarm for carbon monoxide or hydrogen sulfide is available from the Energetics Science division of Becton Dickinson. The two page-illustrated sheet describes features and applications, explains the sensor operating principle, and includes tables of specifications and of selectivity for CO and H2S vs. other gases.

88 Heat Scanner—A six-page, four-color brochure from 3M Fire Protection Systems, Commercial Chemicals Division, describes the company’s heat scanner. The unit is worn in a holster at the hip and weighs only 12 ounces. It registers both by sight and sound. It sounds when it senses temperature changes—fast, intermittent beeps for hot spots and a steady tone for cool areas. A meter indicates both cooler and warmer areas. The scanner can be used as far as 6 feet from the suspect area.

89 Halon 1301 Systems—A 12-page brochure describing a wide range of Halon 1301 fire suppression systems and components is now available from Fenwal Incorporated. Featured are three basic system types for fire suppression applications; and modular systems with Halon containers located at or near the fire hazard. The brochure further describes a complete line of fire detection devices including ultraviolet, ionization, thermal and photoelectric detectors. In addition, a wide variety of fire protection applications are illustrated.
