Firm Name Clarified

Los Angeles, Calif

Fire Engineering’s April, 1981 issue includes an article entitled, “Roll-Up Doors Create Entry Problem at Fire in Storage Building Cubicles,” by R. L. Nailen. The article describes a fire that took place on April 27, 1980, at a mini-warehouse in San Jose, California, that was then called Hillview Public Storage, but is now called Hillview Mini-Storage. Hillview changed its name at the request of our client, Public Storage, Inc. (PSI), which is the largest builder and manager of mini-warehouses in the United States and Canada. In effect, Hillview acknowledged that “Public Storage” is PSI’s proprietary name. Hillview is not, and never has been affiliated with Public Storage, Inc., and agreed to change its name to avoid any further confusion in the marketplace.

Mr. Nailen’s article refers to the Hillview mini-warehouse by its name at the time of the fire. PSI believes this could create the impression that PSI’s mini-warehouses are a fire hazard. This is not the case.

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to set the record straight.
