Law of Intention and Desire…The Yoga Way!

By Claire Diab and Dennis Boyle

The Principle of Intention and Desire has been talked about in many cultures around the world for thousands of years. There are many different books and lectures talking about this principle. For example,  “The Law of Attraction,” “Manifesting Your Dreams,” “Think Big, Grow Rich,” and many more books and lectures exist on this topic.

To keep it simple, be aware that your thoughts are energy, frequency, and vibration and you are connected with and affected by all the energies, frequencies, and vibrations that surround you.

In the practice of yoga, regarding bodily health, you create space with the different poses you do (many of which I have talked about over the years in previous articles), and you get blood flowing through your body when doing various movements, including walking. By doing this, you can be more in tune with yourself and the world around you.

As firefighters, you are constantly practicing present moment awareness, being present in all that you do, especially when you are on duty. When you are presently aware, you create and manifest the things that you want to happen in that situation. Even off the duty, being consciously aware of your thoughts, your bodily movements, and breathing can help you connect more deeply with and see the opportunities to create your deepest intentions and desires.

There is a powerful walking technique I have created called “Walking with Intention and Purpose.” It includes rhythmic breathing, a four-part breath, and repeating the silent intentions of being Healthy and Happy.

Being a firefighter is a very serious profession. However, we must remind ourselves of our deepest intention and desire as humans: being healthy and happy.

Please view the video I have created for you, After walking, practicing this technique 2-3 times so you can master it and feel the difference within you and see the opportunities around you to create your deepest intentions and desires. Enjoy!
