Kenneth Ellerbe, Former D.C. Fire & EMS Chief, Dies at 61

According to a report from NBC4 Washington, former D.C. Fire Chief Kenneth Ellerbe was found dead inside his Southeast Washington, D.C., home on Sunday morning, three sources familiar with the response said. He was 61 years old.

Ellerbe spent 31 years with DC Fire & EMS, eventually serving as its chief for three years under previous Washington, D.C., Mayor Vincent Gray. Ellerbe retired from the department in 2014.
