A raging fire completely destroyed a home on Friday, May 20, in Jericho, New York.

Firefighters received the alarm around 1:15 p.m., but on arrival at the Fern Drive residence, the two-story dwelling was already fully engulfed in flame.

Two occupants in the house were able to escape; one of them, a 23-year-old woman, was immediately transported to an area hospital with serious smoke inhalation.

Mutual aid departments from surrounding communities were called to the scene to assist, but the residence was a total loss.

No other serious injuries were reported and Nassau County Fire Marshals were on the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause.
