Former Indianapolis Fire Chief Keith D. Smith Passes Away

Former IFD Chief Keith Smith

Former Indianapolis (IN) Fire Department (IFD) Chief Keith D. Smith passed away Monday afternoon after battling a long illness, according to a release from the department. He was 72 years old.

Chief Smith was appointed to IFD on December 2, 1965, and retired on December 28, 2002. He was the IFD Chief from 1992 to 2000 before taking on similar roles at Westfield Fire and Carmel Fire. Please keep his wife Cindy and family in your prayers. Arrangements are pending.
