i-Women Welcomes New President Angela Hughes

The International Association of Women in Fire and Emergency Services (i-Women) is welcoming a new President, Angela Hughes. Angela was previously the Eastern Division Trustee for i-Women for the 2013-2014 term.

Angela is currently a Fire Lieutenant with the Baltimore County Fire Department in Maryland. She began her passion with the fire service at the age of sixteen as a volunteer with the local fire department. Her professional career began in 1989 as a Paramedic with the Baltimore City Fire Department. Her experience includes functioning as a Paramedic/Firefighter, Fire Specialist and Fire Marshall. Encompassing strong enthusiasm for public education and the community, i-Women is planted in capable new hands.

“ i-Women is not just for women; it is an inclusive organization of dedicated women and men whose values coincide. Whether being a mentor, leader or serving on the line, we are a fire service family. Women and men may approach various situations differently, but the end goal is the same, providing the best service to our community.” – Angela Hughes

We look forward to the future with Angela, as we send-off the previous year, a journey which created cooperative partnerships with IAFC state and regional organizations, the Volunteer & Combination Officers Section, the departmental membership packages, the renovation of the i-Women website and the recently released “Sexual Assault” video.
