IAFC Conference To Be Held in Cincinnati

It seems like yesterday, but five years have passed since we drew your attention to the 100th Anniversary Conference of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. And here we are calling your attention to the 105th Conference which will be held in Cincinnati September 10-14.

Cincinnati was called the Queen City of the West by the poet, Longfellow, a century ago. And as you will find out when you arrive, it is “one of the most livable cities in the United States.”

Cincinnati’s restaurants are famous the world over, and recreation and entertainment areas abound. There might even be a chance to watch the famed Cincinnati Reds playing out a tight pennant race. And for those who are culturally (and historically) inclined, the city offers outstanding museums, a planetarium and the Cincinnati Fire Division Museum. And for the athletes, there are all kinds of facilities including golf and tennis.

But what is most important is the opportunity provided once again for the fire chiefs of the United States and Canada (plus some from all over the world) to meet and mingle—swapping ideas from their mental notebooks on the business of fire fighting. This is equally as important, to our way of thinking, as the formal conference program. The ladies, too, will not be neglected as you can read elsewhere in these pages.

We will be there in full force, so don’t forget to stop by and say hello. We will be in Booth 129 at the Exhibit Hall and, of course, at the FEMSA party.

Full particulars of the IAFC conference will be found in our August Issue. This issue incidentally will be themed to “Arson—America’s Malignant Crime.” It will feature four major articles on arson from the viewpoint of a psychologist, an investigator, a forensic laboratory scientist and a district attorney.
