Four Firefighters Hurt, Five Residents Displaced by MA House Fire

According to a report from WPRI, at least five residents were displaced and four New Bedford (MA) Fire Department (NBFD) were hospitalized at a house fire Sunday afternoon.

NBFD crews arrived to the multifamily home on Cedar Street at around 4:30 p.m. to heavy flames coming from the second floor and spreading to the attic.

NBFD Chief Scott Kruger said crews knocked down most of the fire during their first hour on scene.

Four firefighters were transported to the hospital, three from heat exhaustion and a fourth with an “apparent injury.”

One paramedic was also hospitalized after entering the home to look for a missing resident.  

Kruger said four adults and one child were displaced.

Two workers were killed and another seriously injured in an explosion Tuesday at a Delta Air Lines maintenance facility near the Atlanta airport.
