Four Dead in Grand Rapids (MI) Fire

A mother and her three sons were killed in a house fire Wednesday in Grand Rapids, Michigan, according to reports.

WOODTV.com reported that investigators believe there were no working smoke alarms inside a house when the fire occurred. Two dogs were also killed in the fire.

According to the report, Fire Chief John Lehman said firefighters were able to get the mother and three sons from the second floor of the house on 28th Street and Kalamazoo Avenue. They were all unconscious and unresponsive.

“This is a tragic incident for this family, but these deaths can be prevented with early detection and could have possible made a big difference in this family’s life,” Chief Lehman told reporters.
