Former Chicago Firefighter, 93, Revisits Past

Chicago Fire Department

Former Chicago firefighter Gordon Grand Pre, 93, paid a visit by the South Holland Fire Department, reports the Chicago Tribune.

His wife remembers when her husband left for a week-long firefighting stint during the Chicago riots of 1968 and she packed him a care package of soup, crackers and candy bars.

After the firefighters arrived and warmly greeted Grand Pre, they led him to the firetruck, honked the horn and took him for a ride around the neighborhood.
