Forest Bend (TX) Fire Chief Dies After Battling Structure Fire

The Forest Bend Fire Department in Webster, Texas, announced the death of its chief, John Norris, Saturday on a Facebook post.

“With profound sorrow, the Forest Bend Fire Department extends its deepest condolences to announce the passing of our cherished Chief, John Norris. Today, we mourn the loss of a remarkable leader whose impact on our department will forever be remembered and honored,” the fire department said on Facebook.

The Forest Bend Fire Department assisted the Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department in battling a fire at an abandoned house early Saturday morning around 1:11 a.m., fox26houston.com reported.

Norris died of a heart attack at home after helping battle the Friendswood, Texas early morning fire, click2houston.com reported.

Norris served the FBFD for nearly 18 years as a firefighter, safety officer, and assistant chief, the department said in a Facebook post Sept. 10 introducing him as the new chief. Norris served more than 30 years with the Houston Fire Department. His years of experience includes holding a master firefighter certification, paramedic certification, aircraft rescue firefighting, technical rescue, and more.
