Flower Mound Firefighter Wade Cannon, 33, died Saturday night after a two-year battle with colon cancer.
Today, Cannon’s colleagues are remembering him for his commitment to encouraging others to get screened for the deadly disease, Fox 4 Dallas reports.
His efforts included lobbying to have cancer declared a work-related illness for firefighters and educating his co workers about the importance of screening.
Two of Cannon’s fellow firefighters discovered they had cancer after taking his advice to get screened.
“Wade Cannon won because he saved two lives in our own department,” Fire Captain Tim Mackling told Fox 4 Dallas
