A vehicle fire resulted in rush-hour traffic congestion yesterday afternoon at the intersection of North Pine Avenue and 10th Street in Ocala, Florida.

Ocala firefighters responded to a 911 call at 4:53 p.m. and arrived within two minutes to find a thick column of dark smoke and flames coming from the engine compartment of a four door sedan.

The driver of the vehicle told fire officials that while she was driving other motorists told her the car was on fire. She then pulled into a parking lot. The car was occupied by two adults and four children who were not injured.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and contained the fire to the engine compartment. The 1995 Buick Park Avenue was valued at $2,000.
