Fire District Gets Parade Unit

Fire District Gets Parade Unit

The Woodside Fire Protection District in San Mateo County, Calif., now has a parade unit, thanks to Fire Fighter John Dellinges, Jr.

Dellinges built the miniature American LaFrance aerial truck at a cost of $600 and 350 hours of labor. Just about every part installed on it works—lights, siren, horn, and a 5-hp engine capable of traveling 8 to 10 mph. The truck seats six children and they do the driving and operating of ladders.

In addition to appearing in parades and at musters, the unit accompanies Dellinges to his fire prevention talks at the elementary schools in the district.
