A fire chief who was badly injured in a Farmington (ME) explosion that killed his brother has left the hospital, according to a report.
The Sun Journal reported that Fire Rescue Chief Terry Bell, 63, was escorted home from a Portland hospital on Tuesday. Chief Bell’s brother, Captain Michael Bell, was killed in the September 16 propane explosion that left several other firefighters and a worker with significant injuries.
The Journal reported that the escort included many fire and police departments from the area, including Portland. Bell has been chief for 19 years, according to the report.
The September explosion leveled a newly built two-story structure for a nonprofit, LEAP Inc.. The maintenance worker who was injured in the blast helped evacuate the site, according to reports.
