Residents were told to shelter in place after a major fire at a chemical plant in Shepherd, Texas, according to reports.
Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the fire Wednesday in San Jacinto County, according to ABC 13.
FOX 26 reported that at least one person has been injured and transported, and residents living in a five-mile radius of the site were urged to shelter in place.
According to the Associated Press, the explosion took place at Sound Resource Solutions, a company that recycles and repackages various chemicals. The owner of the plant said the explosion was caused by an accident involving a forklift.
San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said one employee suffered minor burns to his body and was taken to a hospital, where he was in stable condition. An initial assessment suggested the chemicals involved in the fire were flammable liquids, including possibly diesel and turpentine.
The fire was contained by Wednesday afternoon, San Jacinto County Emergency Management coordinator Emmitt Eldridge told Associated Press reporters.
