FDNY Probationary Firefighter Dies After Suffering Medical Emergency During Training

A probationary firefighter with the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) passed away after suffering a medical emergency during training.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration fatality notice, on Thursday, December 2, 2021, Probationary Firefighter Vincent Malveaux, 31, suffered a medical emergency during morning training at the FDNY Training Academy. He was immediately transported to Harlem Hospital where he passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

“Vincent Malveaux had everything we looked for in a member of the department,” FDNY Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro said during Malveux’s funeral. “He approached his day with humility and kindness.”
