Fire Department of New York (FDNY) firefighters responded on Sunday, March 28, 2021, to a four-alarm fire at 135 West 183rd Street in the Bronx.
According to FDNY Assistant Chief John Hodgens, units were on scene within four minutes. Firefighters had fire in one of the top-floor apartments that was driven by a heavy wind condition. Fire spread to two additional apartments and into the space above the ceiling.
Units performed an interior fire attack and set up exterior streams with tower ladders. Crews were able to knock most of the fire down relatively quickly. There were 11 apartments on the top floor and all occupants were removed, with two civilians sustaining minor injuries.
