Fire Deparment of New York (FDNY) units battled a four-alarm fire in a one-story commercial building on Webster Avenue near 188th Street in the Fordham Heights section of the Bronx on Friday afternoon, March 22, 2019.

The fire originated in a laundromat but quickly spread into the cockloft and then into two adjoining building.

Heavy smoke blanketed the neighborhood and flames scorched a nearby multiple dwelling. Tower ladders and multiversals were employed due to the collapse potential of the roof area.

Several engine companies were dispatched to nearby rooftops to assist in the extinguishment. There were no serious injuries reported.
