Early-Morning Fire Strikes Row of Special-Event Buses in NJ

According to a report from ABC7, a row of parked buses and trailers used for film shoots and special events such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade became engulfed in flames at Royal Buses, Inc., Monday in Kearny, New Jersey.

A company groundskeeper who arrived for work just after 6 a.m. discovered the vehicles on fire, engulfing the parking area. The flames were strong enough as to be seen from Truck Routes 1 & 9. However, morning rush-hour traffic was not affected.

The fire spread to about seven buses before fire crews extinguished the flames. The groundskeeper was unharmed, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The company has other locations around the area where it stores buses, which will be used to staff the parade.
