Detroit (MI) Fire Department Members Rescue Infant from Apartment Fire

According to a report from Click On Detroit, a Southwest Detroit, Michigan, mother and her three children were hospitalized with smoke inhalation after their Cypress Street apartment building caught fire.

The mother and two of her children got out safe, but when Detroit Fire Department (DFD) firefighters arrived on scene, there was an infant trapped in the second-floor unit.

DFD Battalion Chief Darnell Stewart said that crews put up a ladder to the second floor to initiate rescue, but they also went in through the front door. A DFD member brought the infant out through the front door.

Investigators believe a furnace caused the fire.
