Snap-tite Hose Inc. announces the appointment of Eric Katchen as technical service manager. Katchen will provide technical assistance to the marketing sales force for existing products and be responsible for the development of new markets. Snap-tite Hose produces large diameter and attack line fire hose, couplings, adapters, and accessories for the fire service. Katchen will be located in Snap-tite’s Union City, PA, headquarters plant.

Leonard Rothenberg has been elected president of Grumman Emergency Products Inc. The Roanoke, VA, based unit of Grumman Corporation is a builder of fire trucks and other specialty emergency vehicles. Rothenberg has been with Grumman since 1963. He has held the positions of engineer, national sales manager, solar program manager, and division general manager. In 1982 he was elected vicepresident of Energy Systems and appointed to the Management Advisory Committee of the Marine and Energy Systems Division.

Lisa Familetti has joined the Hale Fire Pump Company as sales promotion manager. She will coordinate the company’s advertising, public relations, and trade show exhibits. Familetti is an alumna of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, where she graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in communications.

Hale, located in Conshohocken, PA, designs and manufactures centrifugal fire pumps and accessories.

The Smit International Group and National Foam System Inc., have signed an agreement to cooperate in Smit’s worldwide marine firefighting endeavors.

Smit, based in the Netherlands, is in the business of extinguishing marine tanker fires. They have firefighting ships stationed at strategic locations around the world.

Under the agreement, National Foam, a manufacturer of flammable liquid fire protection systems and foam liquid concentrates, will make stock piles of foam concentrate available to the Smit firefighting teams as they are needed.

Richard Otis Barr has joined the sales staff of Globe Firefighter Suits, located in Pittsfield, NH. Globe manufactures protective clothing for the firefighter. Barr will work as sales contact person in the Pittsfield plant and also work directly with Globe’s nationwide network of dealers. He will be involved in the company’s advertising and trade exhibits at firefighting conventions.

Hale Fire Pump Company has unveiled a new corporate logo that reflects the diversified nature of its product line.

Last year, the company acquired the Hurst “Jaws of Life” line of rescue tools. As a result, they have developed a new logo that better graphically relates to this line and to other product lines that serve markets such as construction, forestry, industry, and government.

“With Hale’s continuing efforts to diversify, we needed a logo that represented the new activities and energies of our company. The new logo indicates that Hale is on the move in the ’80s,” said Alfred Eberhardt, president of Hale Fire Pump Company.

Hale Fire Pump Company, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in business last year, designs and manufactures centrifugal pumps and accessories.

Howard M. Berke, general sales manager of Whelen Engineering Co. Inc., has announced the acquisition of Community Light & Sound Inc.

Whelen Engineering Co., Inc. manufactures visual and audible signaling devices. They are responsible for the development of high-power, all-electronic voice and siren systems used in outdoor, indoor, and mobile applications.

Community Light & Sound Inc., located in Chester, PA, manufactures and markets a variety of commercial and professional sound products, including high-power, state-of-the-art mid-range drivers, pattern control horns and loudspeakers, threeand four-way speaker systems, and specialized horns used in outdoor emergency warning systems.

Snap-tite Hose Inc. announces the appointment of Michael Parker as western regional sales manager. In his new capacity, Parker will be responsible for marketing of Snaptite fire products through distributors in California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado, and Alaska. Snap-tite is a manufacturer of large diameter and attack line hose, couplings, and adapters for the fire service. Parker’s office is located in Antioch, CA.
