Henry E. Collins has been promoted to the position of vice president, governmental affairs of the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. He is a director of the Standards Engineers Society. He serves on the American National Standards Institute as a representative on its Consumer Educational Committee and a member of its advisory committee for the Fire Service Program.

Don Norwood has been elected to the position of market development manager for Calavar Corp. He was formerly product sales manager for Calavar’s self-propelled aerial platform division. Don Cook has been promoted to the position of product training manager for the company.

Milton G. Hulne, Jr. has been elected to the position of vice president, Mine Safety Appliances Company (MSA). Hulne is also President and Director of Catalyst Research Corp., and Carbisulphoil Co., both of which are subsidiaries of MSA.

William J. Auger has been elected to the position of vice president of marketing for Dyna Technology, Inc. Dyna Technology designs and manufactures electrical power generating systems.

J. Samuel Slicer has been elected to the position of Director of Fire Reconstruction Resources at Firepro, Inc. He will have total responsibility for the coordination and development of autopsies of major fire incidents.

Richard J. Gergel has been elected president of Ward LaFrance Truck Corp. Ward LaFrance is a major manufacturer of fire engines used nationwide and internationally by municipal and volunteer fire departments and the U.S. Government.

Robert G. Landon has been elected vice president -investment of Grumman Corporation. Edward Balinsky, was elected vice president and treasurer. Edward B. Jacobs has been appointed assistant treasurer.

Paul E. Perry has been appointed division vice president-marketing’ for BFGoodrich Engineered Systems Division. Perry succeeds John A. McKay, who has been promoted to division president. In his new assignment, Perry is responsible for developing and implementing the division’s marketing activities.

Gerald F. LaVelle has been appointed president of Badger-Powhatan, a division of A-T-0 Inc., which produces fire protection products. With headquarters in Charlottesville, Va., he is also responsible for the division plants in Ranson, West Va., and North Bergen, N.J.

Nelson W. Hartz, vice president of the Mine Safety Appliance Company, received an Honorary Membership in the Instrument Society of America (ISA) from former ISA president Walter Bajek at recent ceremonies in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Film Communicators will now distribute the Robert J. Brady Company’s complete line of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services Training Materials. In addition, they have also expanded their distribution lines to include audio visual equipment from Bell & Howell and Kodak.

Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp., a subsidiary of the Amstar Corp., has announced several new appointments to their staff. They include: Larry Gazzola as their sales representative in the Atlanta area, Robert C. Blake as their representative to the Denver district, Bob Jenkins has been appointed to the Milwaukee areas as sales representative, and Joseph Wingfield as their sales representative for the Arkansas area. Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation is a manufacturer of portable electric tools for contractors and industry.

K.R. Barnette has been appointed battalion chief for Tenneco’s Newport News Shipbuilding Fire Department. Barnette will supervise activities at the North Yard station. He will be the training officer for the fire department and will audit all shipyard fire prevention activities and fire protection hazards on Navy ships. He will also conduct fire investigations on major fires. Barnette is a member of the Tidewater Emergency Medical Service Council and the National Fire Protection Association. He is also on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association.

L. Gene Stohler has been named director of marketing, auto-motive operations, -for Rockwell International Corp. In his new assignment, Stohler will be responsible for all the marketing activity connected with the company’s automotive operations.
