LAKE ASSAULT BOATS was chosen to supply up to 119 Force Protection-Medium (FP-M) patrol boats to the U.S. Navy. The five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract carries a maximum value of $56 million, and the first deliveries will begin in November 2020. The FP-M patrol boats will provide security for U.S. Navy Ships and personnel from waterborne threats in and outside of Navy ports around the world. An operational requirement for the boats is to provide antiterrorism/force protection patrols for U.S. Navy installations, which includes patrol, interrogation of other waterborne assets, and escorting large vessels in and out of port in various weather and water conditions throughout the year, day and night. www.lakeassault.com.

MARION BODY WORKS announced its partnership with Municipal Fire Apparatus Specialists of McAllen, Texas, as of January 1, 2020. Municipal Fire Apparatus opened in 2009 to fill a service need for major fire equipment dealers in Southern Texas. The company has since become a full-service dealership for apparatus repairs, purchases, and accessories. Municipal Fire Apparatus has 15 employees across sales, service, and office positions. GREGORY SUMMERS

GREGORY SUMMERS was selected as the new chief of the Waco (TX) Fire Department (WFD). Summers is a 34-year fire service veteran who was previously the chief of the Little Rock (AR) Fire Department. He has a bachelor’s of science degree in emergency management from Arkansas Tech University and an associate degree in fire science from Black River Technical College. Summers succeeds former WFD chief Bobby Tatum, who retired at the end of 2019 after 31 years of service with the Fort Worth (TX) Fire Department and three years as WFD’s chief.

CASEY MATHES

CASEY MATHES was sworn in as the new chief of the Nitro (WV) Fire Department (NFD) on March 3. He is a 23-year NFD veteran and a fifth-generation NFD firefighter as well as a third-generation chief. Along with Mathes, eight other firefighters were sworn into their appropriate ranks. Mathes takes over the position from former chief Jeff Elkins, who spent 30 years with the NFD before recently retiring.

THOMAS M. IACOVISS

THOMAS M. IACOVISSI was sworn as the new chief of the Rome (NY) Fire Department (RFD). Iacovissi is a 30-year RFD veteran whose son, Dustin, is also a city firefighter. He joined the department in September 1989 and moved up the ranks from firefighter to lieutenant to captain to deputy chief in 2010. Iacovissi said the first challenge he will tackle as chief is getting the department’s membership numbers back up, with roughly 40 percent of current RFD firefighters having less than three years’ experience. Iacovissi takes over the position from outgoing chief Ronald M. Brement.
