PIERCE MANUFACTURING celebrated the first production build of its HEWATT apparatus—the first military-grade, multipurpose water distribution and tactical support vehicle—during a ceremony at Pierce’s facility on in Bradenton, Florida. The vehicle was presented to representatives of the U.S. Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM). The HEWATT is an Oshkosh heavy expanded-mobility tactical truck (HEMTT) platform-based water tender. Cascade Fire delivered the first E-ONE aerial to the University Place Fire Department (UPFD) in Pierce County, Washington. The custom HP 100 aerial is the product of two years of research and design for the UPFD, which worked closely with Cascade Fire and E-ONE on all aspects of the truck. UPFD’s requirements included a center hosebed to carry 750 feet of hose, a picking hook on the aerial’s tip, eight 750-watt floodlights, and a drop-down bumper line to carry 100 feet of 1¾-inch hose. www.e-one.com. SIEMENS BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES, INC. installed its Sinorex® fire suppression system at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois to protect its myriad servers, data storage drives, and backup tape system. Rush managers required a system that would protect all stored back-up data and drastically limit collateral fire damage to servers, network systems, and other hardware, as well as represent Rush’s commitment to employ “green” standards.
