>> ACTION TRAINING SYSTEMS (ATS) was awarded two Telly Awards® for work on its “Emergency Medical Responder” training series. ATS received bronze awards for the titles “Neurological Emergencies” and “Obstetrics and Neonatal Care.” The Telly Awards receives over 13,000 entries annually from ad agencies, production companies, TV stations, interactive media agencies, and corporations around the world. ATS’s winning programs were judged in the category Non-Broadcast Productions—Education (for academic use). The Emergency Medical Responder series includes 25 training programs which feature demonstrations of important life-saving skills as well as assessment and management techniques for first responders in the prehospital field. www.action-training.com.

>> FERRARA FIRE APPARATUS, INC. was awarded a $13 million contract for 13 100-foot rear-mount aerial ladders by the Fire Department of New York (FDNY). With this latest order, a total of 54 of FDNY aerials will carry the Ferrara nameplate. The aerials will be built on Ferrara’s Ultra custom chassis, featuring an all stainless-steel cab with a split tilt design, and seating for six. The aerial is a four-section, rear-mount ladder with a 100-foot vertical reach. Its compact design is well suited for New York’s congested streets, and the 10-foot, 10-inch travel height will easily fit into FDNY’s historic fire stations that have low door openings. www.ferrarafire.com. >> ONSPOT OF NORTH AMERICA has expanded its factory in North Vernon, Indiana. Onspot purchased a three-acre parcel with its 7,400-square-foot building which will act as Onspot’s storage warehouse. The additional space frees up the room required to add two more CNC machines that assist in the production of Onspot’s automatic tire chain systems. Onspot of North America has been supplying automatic tire chain systems for the past 24 years to more than 200 offices of emergency medical services as a factory installed option and to more than 1,400 dealers throughout North America. www.onspot.com. >> HURST JAWS OF LIFE® is now on Facebook. The official Hurst Jaws of Life Facebook fan page was created to provide a direct connection with emergency service personnel who use the company’s rescue tools and equipment in the field. It will be an avenue through which rescuers who have received Green Cross awards are recognized. The Green Cross program honors rescuers who have used Hurst Jaws of Life equipment during a rescue to save lives. Facebook now provides a medium to honor these awarded individuals in a public forum through which they can share this recognition with their friends, families, and coworkers. >> FIREMAN’S FUND INSURANCE COMPANY (FIREMAN’S FUND®) awarded the St. Louis (MO) Fire Department (SLFD) with a $36,949 grant. SLFD was selected for the grant by Parcel Insurance Plan, a local subsidiary of Brown & Brown Insurance. The grant funds state-of-the-art EZ Scape Integrated Self Rescue Belts, which allow firefighters to safely exit upper floors of a building through a window if they become trapped by the path of a fire. The grant is one of 66 grants awarded to fire departments in Missouri since 2004, bringing the total amount awarded by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company to more than $1 million since 2004. www.firemansfund.com.
