9/11 World Trade Center Display Case Dedicated at New York City Fire Museum

In collaboration with the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), the Fire Safety Directors Association of Greater New York (FSDA) dedicated a display case at the City Fire Museum on October 9, 2014 in honor of the six World Trade Center (WTC) Fire Safety Directors, seven floor fire wardens, and concerned citizens who perished on September 11, 2001.

In attendance were the FSDA membership, several members of the Hayes, Fitzsimons and Crowther families, FDNY Headquarters Staff and Fire Companies Engine 10, Engine 217, Engine 320, and Ladder 166 representing those FSDs who either worked or retired out of their firehouses. FDNY Assistant Chief, John Sudnik, Manhattan Borough Command was the keynote speaker.

Display case items (see photo above) are:                                              

  • An original copy of New York City Local Law-5 (1973) requiring a fire safety director to be a steadfast life safety centurion to high-rise office building occupants. 
  • FSDA 10th and 20th Anniversary Journals         
  • Fire Engineering Magazine Covers: WTC 1993 and 2002.
