With the dedication of an addition, the Delaware State Fire School in Dover has more than doubled the size of its administration and classroom building.

The $1.3-million addition adds 16,000 square feet to the 14,200 square feet in the original building, and student capacity has been increased by 175. The new structure contains two large classrooms one of which can be divided into four rooms and the other, into two rooms. One of the large classrooms includes rear screen projection facilities and it can be divided so that each of the 8 X 10-foot screens serves a separate classroom.

Included in the addition and renovation of the original building are five offices of staff instructors, new offices for the director and the administrative assistant, a library room, an expansion of the cafeteria, and a lounge with study carrels for instructors.

The addition has a steel frame and exterior masonry walls with brick veneer. The interior wall finish is a veneer plaster system on metal studs.

Dedication ceremonies were held Sept. 19 with Gov. Pierre S duPont as the principal speaker.
