Sidewinder Photography shared some photos from the scene of a recent major fire in Valley Falls, New York.

On April 1, the Valley Falls Fire Department responded to a reported garage fire. Also responding were units from Easton, Raymertown, Melrose, Hoosic Valley, Johnsonville, Pittstown, Pleasantdale, Hemstreet Park, Schaghticoke, and Speigletown.

Valley Falls Car Three arrived on scene and had a fully involved working structure fire in the rear of the building. The chief made his way to the back of the structure and declared a second alarm as the fire rapidly spread because of the wind to another commercial garage. The heavy black smoke column could be seen up to 10 miles away.

The first-arriving engine pulled multiple handlines to the rear of the building. A heavy load of hay caused the fire to spread rapidly. After water supply was established, fire units used multiple master streams to attempt to bring the fire under control.

While on scene, multiple explosions occurred from inside the garage. Firefighters cut multiple holes throughout the metal garage to gain access to the fire inside. Command learned there were more than 500 bales of hay and multiple vehicles inside the structure. Firefighters ultimately had to call in an excavator to gain access to the structure.
