Sterling Rope Announces New Escape Harness, the Bolt Escape Belt

Sterling Rope Announces New Escape Harness, the Bolt Escape Belt

After extensive research and testing, Sterling Rope Company, Inc. announced the newest in firefighter escape harnesses – the Bolt Escape Belt. Made in the USA, this innovative, low-profile escape belt comes from years of testing and evaluation with different harness designs and extensive feedback from firefighters and is UL certified to NFPA 1983:2012 as a Heat Resistant Escape Belt.

“We’ve designed this belt to be a lightweight alternative to the bulky and heavy harnesses that are used with bunker pants today,” says Matt Hunt, Sales Manager at Sterling. “In fire rescue every second counts when you’re doing your job. This belt is faster to don and won’t wear out your turnouts like traditional harnesses often do.”

In addition to weighing only 21 ounces, the Bolt Escape Belt’s Kevlar material makes it heat resistant. Its simple design makes it easy to use with only one set-it-and-forget-it adjustment and quick closure snap. By adding a few belt loops, the harness also integrates into your current bunker pants. With both regular and large sizes available, the Bolt can accommodate every member of a department.

As an added benefit, the Belt includes a second attachment point that allows it to be used as a ladder belt when paired with an appropriate carabiner, or for attachment in an aerial bucket. When used with Sterling’s F4 Escape kit, it becomes the lightest-weight escape solution available.

The Bolt Escape Belt will be introduced at the FDIC Trade Show Exhibition in Indianapolis, Indiana, April 20-25 and will be available online and through Sterling retailers and authorized distributors on June 1, 2015.
