Smoke Divers School

Smoke Divers School

A seven-day smoke divers school is being planned by the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute for next spring. However, before a firm commitment is made, the institute seeks to know the number of students who will attend the fire fighter breathing apparatus specialist school.

This time there will be a registration fee of about $250. This fee will cover the stress test, instructional fees and other costs. It will not include room and board. In the past, the institute has absorbed part of the costs of conducting this smoke divers school, but it no longer is able to do so.

The school is expensive not only because of the stress test, but also because of the student-teacher ratio.

Students will have to bring their own selfcontained breathing apparatus for the seven-day program, which this year will include one day of breathing apparatus maintenance.

Those interested in attending the smoke divers school should write to Joseph McDonagh, Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, P. O. Box 117, Centreville, Md. 21617.
