Better Tools, Inc. EZ SPANNER™ fire hydrant wrench offers a unique ratcheting design that enables firefighters to open fire hydrants in a safer body position than traditional hydrant wrenches; this is especially helpful when the fire hydrant is obstructed.

Better Tools, Inc. has incorporated three custom-designed hooks that grab onto fittings, reducing the problem of the tool slipping off the fitting and causing injuries. The EZ Spanner™ incorporates an extendable handle that increases the length of the tool and adds a mechanical advantage to opening hydrants faster and with less effort. http://www.ezspanner.com. Logos Technologies’ REDKITE is a lightweight airborne sensor that can still-image a four-kilometer-wide area and perform all image processing within the pod, helping firefighters identify wildfires faster. The new WAMI sensor allows users to open and watch more than 10 video streaming windows at once within the monitored area.

In addition, they can designate other areas as “watchboxes,” with the sensor providing an alert should it detect activity there. Wide-area video imagery collected and geographically tagged in real time is also indexed by Redkite’s sophisticated processing algorithms. Operators can later access this archive to trace related events over time. http://www.logos-technologies.com. (703) 584-5725.

FFE‘s Fireray detectors identify smoke over much larger areas than traditional fire detectors and are ideally suited for warehouses, sports arenas, and aircraft hangers. Usually wall-mounted at near-ceiling level, they transmit a beam of invisible infrared light across the building space being protected.

A receiver detects and measures the light and can recognize smoke interference anywhere along the beam path, triggering the alarm when the predetermined threshold is reached. With the new technology, the detector now actively monitors ambient light levels on the detector and subtracts them from the real signal to avoid false alarms caused by lighting conditions. http://www.ffeuk.com. Toyne‘s PRIORITY RESPONSE VEHICLE (PRV™) has been engineered to handle the work of multiple apparatus. Toyne developed the PRV to use an innovative enclosed slide-out-and-down pump panel which takes up less space, allowing departments to choose their pump panel location and choose from multiple body configurations.

Since the enclosed pump panel can be placed on either the rear, driver, or officer side of the cab as well as inside the apparatus cab, fire departments can keep the controls close at hand while Toyne’s tailored storage options maximize every square inch of space. Toyne’s PRV provides ample storage and the best pump maintenance access in the industry, bit it can maneuver into even the most remote locations with ease. http://www.Toyne.com. (800) 648-3358.
