Off-Duty Firefighter Killed in Trench Collapse

Missouri, October 24, 2001- Firefighter Roger Moorehead, a 29-year veteran of the Lee’s Summit Fire Department, died Monday in a trench collapse while working for an excavation company while off duty. Moorhead was an apparatus operator and emergency medical technician and held the title of specialist.

The trench collapsed at approximately 1050 hours. Moorehead was recovered from the trench at approximately 1445 hours.

OSHA is investigating the incident.
