NFPA 2013 Upgrade Kits for Legacy Scott Air-Pak SCBA

Scott Air Pak and SCBA

Scott Safety, a Tyco business and global leader in innovative protective equipment and safety devices, announced the introduction of the Air-Pak SCBA NFPA 2013 Compliant Upgrade Kit. Applicable to any 2002 or 2007 edition Air-Pak SCBA, the upgrade kit allows fire departments using legacy model Air-Pak SCBA to upgrade to the most current edition of the NFPA 1981 and 1982 standards.

The Air-Pak SCBA NFPA 2013 Compliant Upgrade Kit provides a lower cost alternative to purchasing new SCBA, while also allowing fire departments to take advantage of newer technology enhancements. In addition, the upgrade kits give fire departments the ability to maximize the service life of existing equipment, thus reducing the frequency of SCBA replacement.

“The Scott Air-Pak SCBA has earned its reputation through the years as the most durable, reliable, and easy-to-use SCBA on the market with the lowest total cost of ownership,”  said Jason Cannon, Air-Pak SCBA product line manager for Scott Safety.  “The introduction of NFPA 2013 Compliant Upgrade Kits reinforces our commitment to delivering a low cost of ownership product for our customers.  Scott Safety is unique in providing an Air-Pak SCBA upgrade solution, which highlights the importance that Scott places on its current relationships and continued commitment to customers.”

The upgrade kits will be introduced in phases over the next few months for each model Air-Pak SCBA, starting with the NFPA 1981, 2002 compliant Air-Pak NxG2 SCBA and NFPA 1981, 2007 compliant Air-Pak NxG7 SCBA, Air-Pak Wireframe SCBA, and Air-Pak 75 SCBA in October. Upgrade kits for the NFPA 1981, 2002 compliant Air-Pak Wireframe SCBA and Air-Pak 50 SCBA should follow in December 2015.

As part of the upgrade, customers can choose to add Scott Safety’s newer technology enhancements including the Pak-Tracker™ Firefighter Locator or SEMS II Air Management System. Although not required by NFPA standards, these enhancements contribute to improving situational awareness and firefighter safety. Customers will also have the option to upgrade the operating pressure of the Air-Pak SCBA to 5500 psig, allowing them to take advantage of the benefits that this Scott Safety “industry first” provides.  Along with these enhancements, the AV-3000 HT facepiece provides improved environment protection as compliant to the NFPA 1981, 2013 edition standard.
