Lakemore Volunteers Win Emergency One Pumper

The Lakemore Volunteer Fire Department of Akron, Ohio, was the recipient of a brand new fire truck manufactured by Emergency One, Inc., of Ocala, Fla.

The volunteer fire department’s name was drawn from more than 20,000 entries in Emergency One’s free fire truck contest, which started last January and ended in August, with the truck being drawn for and given away on the floor of the International Association of Fire Chiefs conference in Kansas City.

Fire Chief Jim Brown (right in photo) and Captain Clarence Bittner of the Lakemore department flew to Kansas City, where the Quick Attack pumper was presented to them by Emergency One’s president, Ron Ewers (left in photo).

The $37,000 rig, powered by a 427-cubicinch V8 engine, is built on a CMC chassis and can pump water at the rate of 250 gpm. It is equipped with a 300-gallon tank, an electric hose reel, a Federal Aerodynic light bar, Federal PA-150 siren, hard suction hose, booster hose and nozzle.
