US Forest Service to Purchase Faraday Cage Enclosures from Pepro LLC

Pepro’s patented technology provides the US Forest Service with secured reliability, easy tower site operation and cost containment

Oil City, Penn. – August 30, 2011 – Pepro LLC (www.peprollc.com), the leading manufacturer of shielded enclosure systems for stationary and mobile applications, has been chosen by the Department of Agriculture’s U.S. Forest Service, the national agency that manages public lands in national forests and grasslands, to provide protection of sensitive communications equipment at many radio tower sites across the country. Pepro enclosures have been proven to protect equipment from lightning, electromagnetic interference, radio frequency interference and other threats to mission critical communications.

The U.S. Forest Service has employed a number of Pepro’s enclosures spanning its product line from stationary remote re-deployable units to antenna mast products.  Currently, the U.S. Forest Service is using various configurations of Pepro’s shelter and tower designs, and the company’s unique, patented Faraday cage technology allows the agency to easily deploy tower sites almost anywhere, confident that the sites will be protected from lightning, high winds and other significant risks.

“The US Forest Service has been a great partner to us, helping us to identify product improvement opportunities and allowing us to serve as part of the hands-on team in putting these sites into operation,” said Vic Garmong, Pepro LLC President. “The radio sites of the US Forest Service help to provide safety and security to several of our country’s national treasures. We are committed to providing products and service deserving of the trust the agency puts in us.”

Pepro’s enclosures will be used in areas that have environmental constraints since there is no need for ground disturbing activities. The U.S. Forest Service will also use the enclosures in areas that have access challenges since they are able to be deployed to sites by helicopters.

The U.S. Forest Service has deployed Pepro’s Brave and Scout mobile radio sites, which are designed for quick response to mission critical requirements. Single person operation and full integration allow for installation and set-up of the mobile sites to be completed in 30 minutes.  Additionally, The U.S. Forest Service also utilizes one of Pepro’s8’x16”x8’ Fixed Radio Sites which serves as a “master site,” or dispatch center. The Fixed Radio Site allows for vertical separation antennas, permanent attachment of custom antenna cable harness and requires no guy wires. The walk in shelter can hold up to nine 7’ racks, dispatch desk and work bench. It is rated at 400 pounds per square foot floor load, and 200 pounds per square foot roof load, providing flexibility for equipment configuration and protection from natural threats, including several feet of snow and ice accumulation.

The cost of choosing a Pepro enclosure, delivered and deployed, is more than 30 percent less than having to purchase a tower and a shelter. Pepro enclosures are also far more likely to survive severe weather, do not require specialized staff for operation, and are built for easy maintenance and reuse, extending the cost-measured benefits.

The construction, portability and Faraday cage design of Pepro’s equipment meets the U.S. Forest Service’s needs in these challenging situations. Manufacturing effective shielding solutions has been Pepro’s mission since its founding. The company has provided shielded enclosures based on its patented Faraday cage technology for 18 years without a single loss of protected equipment.
