Portable pumping system
The Vanton haz-mat portable pumping system is now available from Vanton Pump & Equipment Corp. It is a self-contained kit made up of one or two Flex-i-liner selfpriming, sealless pumps of rugged engineered plastics.
The haz-mat pump kit will pick up and transfer any fluid safely and easily at a flow rate of up to 10 gpm, according to the company.

Heavy-duty salvage vacuum
The Heavy-Duty Salvage Vacuum by Vetter Systems is used at industrial, hazardous material, and fire clean-ups. It combines power and speed to eliminate large volumes of liquids, then pumps them away automatically.
Constructed of fiberglass-reinforced polyester, the canisters are acid resistant, according to the company.

Aqua-Tech Inc. introduces a new emergency response computer software system. The CHEMDATA system has been developed to provide accurate information with life-saving speed for response to chemical spills and emergencies.
CHEMDATA contains information on over 18,000 chemicals and 44,000 synonyms and is adaptable to most personal computers. The system has the ability to immediately display all known information regarding the chemical in question, including hazards, response precautions, emergency protective gear, etc.

Haz-mat kit
The National Draeger Hazardous Materials Kit supplies the user with quick and accurate evaluations at the sight of a hazardous materials accident. The Haz-Mat Kit enables the user to make methodical determinations of the contaminants. It also allows the user to determine the concentration of those contaminants present at a hazardous materials sight.

Cut-off saw
Tanaka’s multi-purpose saw for cutting concrete, steel, cast iron, and other hard materials has been improved. The improvements include a new all-steel adjustable blade guard and a belt tension meter for better performance and longer drive belt life.

Software product
OSHA-Soft Corporation announces the release of MSDS Manager, Version 2.2. The IBM PC based software tracks chemical inventories and Material Safety Data Sheets. It also allows the user to access a wide range of information, including inventories sorted by vendor or department, products listed by ingredients, flammability, etc.
The most important feature of the new version is the use of the recently released OSH A Form 174 Material Safety Data Sheet, which keeps MSDS Manager in compliance with the requirements of the Hazard Communication Standard.

Portable weather station
Handar Inc. introduces a portable weather station, which broadcasts continuous local weather information during forest fires to help firefighters control blazes and protect lives.
Handar’s new Micro-RAWS (Remote Automated Weather Station) is the first portable weather station to use a voice synthesizer to broadcast weather reports to the hand-held two-way radios used by firefighters. A complete new line of compact fluorescent lights for emergency vehicles has been announced by the Guest Company. They all offer the benefits of very low power consumption and absolutely no RFI (radio frequency interference), which is a disadvantage of fluorescents.
With slim, low profiles, they are particularly well suited for many locations throughout the interior of van ambulances.

Portable fire pumps
The D.B. Smith Company has added a new product to their line of portable “Indian” fire pumps.
The Fedco Model 500FS fire pump is a five-gallon, lightweight, collapsible bag made from high-strength neoprene reinforced with nylon fabric. The Fedco also features a single action brass pump and quick-connect couplings between the bag and hose.
