ROOF SAFETY DEVICE

The Leg Lock Safety Device, available from R-Lad Enterprises, was designed by a firefighter to make roof operations safer.

Highly visible, the device enables safe, hands-free roof operations. Its lightweight construction allows it to be mounted onto a ladder before sending the ladder aloft. Once on the roof, it is quickly and easily repositioned on the ladder and locked into place.

The Leg Lock Safety Device has been tested by a registered, professional engineer and has been certified to exceed the loads that would be placed upon it by firefighters during fire ground or training operations.

SCBA

Unlike other SCBAs that require retrofitting, the Magnum SCBA has been engineered from the ground up to exceed NFPA 1981 (1987 edition) specifications.

The Magnum, manufactured by International Safety Instruments, has a low-profile demand valve that allows its use inside all encapsulating haz-mat suits. It maintains positive pressure even under high rates of breathing. Under simulated flashover conditions, the Magnum facemask and demand valve have been subjected to 2,000°F for 10 seconds with no degradation.

FIRE ALARM SYSTEM

The AutoCommand II Fire Alarm System from Autocall is a microcomputer-based signaling systern recommended for monitoring a wide variety of initiating devices.

The AutoCommand II uses an “interrogate/respond” method of signaling transmission for continuous scanning of all reporting devices. Its features include a Class “A” signaling line circuit, 80-character visual display, plugin printed circuit boards, and a control panel with built-in help messages.

SAFETY SUIT

Chem-Tex Corp. introduces a special butyl rubber chemical protection suit that changes color when excessive wear and abrasion affect its resistance.

The encapsulated suit also features a new internal suspension that allows the hood to turn with head movement in any direction for unobscured vision. It features a pass-through air distribution system for use with an outside air supply. The back pouch can accommodate a one-hour cylinder for SCBA.

HAZARDOUS-LIQUID FAUCETS

Faucets for dispensing flammable and combustible liquids are available from Justrite Manufacturing Co.

The Model 8-912 is made of die-cast zinc with a buna-n gasket; the faucet is intended for use with gasoline, kerosene, or fuel oil. The faucet is available in an adjustable design: The Model 8-913 has a swivel spout, enabling the user to position the faucet for dispensing after tightening into the drum.

STROBE SYSTEM

Whelen Engineering Co. has expanded its Dash-Master strobe beacon series to include three new Dash-Flasher halogen models. These directional, all-electronic halogen beacons are designed for dash, visor, windshield. magnetic, or rear deck mounting.

Two replacement batteries for the Midland 70-154 radio are now being shipped from stock by JaBro Batteries, the company has announced.

The JB70B24 andJB70B25 replace the Midland 70-B24 and 70-B2 5 respectively. The JB70B24 is a 900 mah, 13.2 battery; the JB70B25 is rated at 1150 malt, 9.6 volts. Both nickel cadium batteries accept a standard charge.

AIR LINE DISCONNECT

The Air Eject automatic air line disconnect provides a simple method for connecting air pressure to a vehicle and having that air pressure line automatically disconnect when the vehicle is started, lhe device, available from Kussmaul Electronics Co., pushes off the hose connector when its solenoid valve is energized.
