Chicago Roosevelt University Enrolls in RealView All Digital First Responder Technology

One of Chicago’s most historic buildings is being electronically pre-planned as Roosevelt University, located in the South Loop, implements RealView, LLC’s CommandScopeTM technology across its campus. The Auditorium Building and Auditorium Theatre are nationally-designated landmarks and two of five buildings whose data is being entered into the program that provides first responders critical property and occupant information both en route and onsite.

With the implementation of CommandScope, Roosevelt University is demonstrating a strong commitment to campus safety, and a focus on providing building information to first responders in cases of emergency. CommandScope provides city first responders instant access to site plans, floor plans, utility shut-off locations, campus maps, fire hydrant locations, persons requiring special assistance, and other critical building information.

“The implementation of CommandScope is one of the more important enhancements we’ve made to campus safety at Roosevelt,” says Maureen Froncek, director of campus safety. “In all, we are digitizing the information of more than 1,672,000 square feet of classroom, laboratory, housing, office, and auditorium space.”

One of the best-known designs of Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan, the Auditorium Building and Theatre were declared national historic landmarks in 1975. The Auditorium Building has been the home of Roosevelt University since 1946. The other buildings being pre-planned in addition to the Auditorium Theatre are:

Auditorium Building, 430 S. Michigan Ave.

The Gage Building, 18 S. Michigan Ave.

The Goodman Center, 501 S. Wabash Ave.

The Wabash Building, 425 S. Wabash Ave.

CommandScope technology is easy to use. It also is shareable, so even first responders unfamiliar with an emergency site will have working knowledge of the building, its occupants and its hazards. They are prepared to act with knowledge rather than trial and error, saving time and lives.

“First responders continuously answer the call to duty by putting themselves at risk to keep us safe,” says Stephen Nardi, president of RealView, LLC. “We designed CommandScope with the mindset that this is an advantage first responders need and deserve. We are excited to see this technology embraced by Roosevelt and expect it to become a staple on other campuses, as well.”
