APPARATUS DELIVERIES

The Little Hocking (OH) Fire Department replaced an old panel truck used as a service unit with this rescue built by SUMMIT FIRE APPARATUS. Firefighter/EMT Intermediate Josh Chevalier says it provides extrication, lighting, and breathing air and responds to motor vehicle accidents and search and rescue and fire calls.

Features/Equipment:

  • INTERNATIONAL 4400 chassis with 226-inch wheelbase and five-seat cab;
  • INTERNATIONAL DT 466 285-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • nonwalk-in body with ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors and two rapelling hooks for anchor points;
  • four-bottle, 6,000-psi air cascade system with MAKO fill station;
  • AMKUS electric and gas power units and tools with hydraulic HANNAY reels;
  • ON SPOT tire chains;
  • PHILLIPS AED; and
  • light and power with WINCO 25-kw pto generator, WILL BURT Night Scan, six WHELEN scene lights, two AKRON portable floodlights, and one HANNAY electric cord reel. 

 


The Cherryvale (KS) Fire Rescue’s PIERCE pumper is first out on rescue calls and mutual aid and second out on structure fires and medical calls, explains Assistant Chief Chad Russell.

 

Features/Equipment:

  • Contender chassis with 172-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab with 20-inch raised roof;
  • CUMMINS ISC 350-hp diesel engine with ALLISON MD 3060 automatic transmission;
  • WATEROUS CS single-stage, 1,250-gpm pump with 1¾-inch front bumper line, two 1¾-inch crosslays, one-inch booster reel, and 2½-inch rear discharge;
  • UPF 1,000-gallon water tank;
  • GORTITE roll-up compartment doors and four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
  • through-the-rear ladder storage;
  • GENESIS rescue tools;
  • ZOLL AED; and
  • light and power with HONDA 6.5-kw gasoline generator, two FRC midship floodlights, and two CODE 3 scene lights on cab.

 


The Cherokee Springs Fire Department, Spartanburg, South Carolina, planned this RESCUE 1rescue truck with pull-out trays and an open box design to protect members from traffic exposure. Chief Patrick S. Murray says the department covers an interstate highway. The vehicle replaced two smaller trucks.

  • SPARTAN chassis with 195-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab with 10-inch raised roof;
  • CUMMINS ISC 330-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
  • 18-foot, nine-inch nonwalk-in body with rear lift up access ladder, four upper corner tie-off points and ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors;
  • 200-pound capacity oil-absorbent hopper in roof compartment;
  • HURST rescue tools;
  • four HANNAY reels (two each hydraulic and electric cord);
  • WARN 4½-ton portable winch with three receivers;
  • CARDIAC SCIENCE AED; and
  • light and power with ONAN 35-kw pto generator, WILL BURT Night Scan, seven FRC floodlights (one brow and six on body); and six WHELEN fixed scene lights on body.
