Probe Into MI Fire Training After Drywall Project

Officials are asking questions after firefighters in Blue Lake Township (MI) participated in fire training at a fire-damaged house at which the department helped hang drywall the same night. The house belonged to volunteer firefighter Ken Bower.

According to a news report, Blue Lake Township (MI) firefighters helped Bower hang the drywall in the house, which had been damaged by fire, then engaged in fire training there.

Chief Larry Radtke said firefighters were paid only for two hours of training at the home, and that most firefighters stayed an additional half hour without pay to help.
