Humpday Hangout: Live-Fire Training – Benefits, Limitations, Possibilities

In this week’s Humpday Hangout, hosts Brad French and Aaron Heller cover the history of National Fire Protection Association NFPA 1403, Standard on Live Fire Evolutions, from an instructor perspective. Joined by guests Brian Kazmierzak and Brian Ward, they will present limitations of live-fire training in comparison to real-world fires along with various possibilities of “bridging the gap” between the training environment and the street. They’ll discuss the ever-evolving world of small-scale props, curriculum changes in the realm of fire dynamics, and innovative ways to make the Class A fixed-facility scenario a bit more realistic while still operating within the confines of applicable NFPA standards.
