Harrison (NJ) Firefighter Dies Following Training

A Harrison (NJ) firefighter passed away following a training evolution, according to a notice from the U.S. Fire Administration.

On Saturday, March 19, 2022, Firefighter/EMT Vincent Doffont, 37, had returned to the fire station from a training exercise assisting newer members with structural roof venting. While in the shower, Firefighter/EMT Doffont collapsed and was found unconscious by fellow firefighters. He was immediately rushed to the University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced deceased. The cause of his death has yet to be determined. 

According to reports, Firefighter Doffont had previously served as a patrolman on the Harrison Police Department and as a Hudson County sheriff’s officer. He had also served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, completing two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as a rifleman.
