Drill of the Week: What Would You Do? Wires Down

By Forest Reeder

This series of scenario-based training discussions require each member of the crew to describe what their individual and crew actions are when faced with a fireground safety hazard or fireground emergency. Each member of your department who responds to a fire scene should have a “safety pre-plan” to deal with hazardous situations that occur during fire scene operations.

Individual and crew/company responses should be discussed, then an entire safety strategy can be developed to handle these situations. As always, consult your local SOGs and applicable training references when making your decisions.
